March Fishing Report
Baffin Bay continues to produce healthy oversized speckled trout! The rainfall we recently received has helped clean out our estuaries, which has caused a "tea" like color in areas where the rain water has entered our back bays. Due to the fresh water entering Baffin, speckled trout tend to stay on bottom due to the fact that saltwater is more dense than freshwater. Our speckled trout have become acclimated to the high salinity level here in Baffin Bay, with salinity levels averaging between 45-55 parts per thousand & during drouts it can reach much higher levels. This is why Baffin Bay is known for trophy speckled trout, because of the high salinity level. The trout have become acclimated to these conditions and remain here for the entirety of their life. Baffin continues to hold a plethora of small profile baitfish ranging between 2.5in- 5in. When fishing, an area, I always suggest to my clients to, "Match the hatch." Take notice in what style and size baitfish are jumping out of the water around you and throw something similar. We are finding oversized trout in knee to waist deep waters, along drop offs, grasslines and potholes. These healthy female specks are thumping our lures like it's their last meal, ensuring a solid hookset and fight. Paul Brown Softdines continue to produce, while top waters are very effective first thing in the morning and soft plastics later in the day to pursuade the ones sitting on bottom. Remember to remain safe out in the water and as always tight lines!

April Fishing Report
The fishing continues to be fantastic here in Baffin Bay! We had some rainfall in the previous week, which has helped clean out our estuaries and caused a "tea" like color in areas where the rain water has entered our back bays. The salt water will be on the bottom while the freshwater remains on top. Due to this occurrence, you will find speckled trout on the bottom. Baffin continues to hold a plethora of small profile baitfish ranging between 2.5in- 5in. When fishing, it's suggested you "Match the hatch." Take notice in what style and size baitfish is jumping out of the water around you and throw something similar. We are finding trout in knee to waist deep waters, along drop offs and around potholes. Redfish are lurking in off colored water, around entrances to back lakes, grasslines & on bottom. Paul Brown Softdines continue to produce, as well as soft plastics and gulp under a popping cork.
Remember to stay safe and courteous out on the water and, as always, tight lines!

May Fishing Report
Fishing has been great here in Baffin Bay! The female speckled trout are in the process of spawing, and they're staying hungry. These big speckled trout are appearing to be healthy with full bellies & scarrage between their pelvic fin and urogenital opening. There's a plethora of male speckled trout in grass beds due to spawning season, and these male trout are currently fertilizing the eggs in the grass beds and other structures such as rock formations. Hot, humid and windy seems to be the norm here in Baffin Bay and it's been nothing but that lately along with scattered thunderstorms popping up all around us. The weather can be very unpredictable so always be prepared for rain, lighting and wind when out on the water. Wet wading season has officially kicked off, and if you're an avid fisherman, you know this is a very exciting opportunity! Water temperature has bumped up to 84° which makes for a very comfortable wading experience all day long. The mornings have been great for top water action over grass beds, drop offs & around the rocks. Redfish and trout are both striking at top waters. Soft plastics for later in the morning have been quite productive, and or a heavier lure such as a corky devil or softdine. Let your lure sink to bottom, and work about midrange, you will eventually display your lure in front if a pursuaded fish. Flounder are starting to make an appearance in Baffin Bay so the occasional surprise of finding a flounder at the end of your line is very likely. Wishing all the moms out there a very Happy Mother's Day! Stay safe out on the water and as always, tight lines!
June Fishing Report
Fishing in Baffin Bay has been great, with weather patterns changing from the high pressure that lingered amongst us for a couple of weeks to a low pressure system that produced some heavy rain fall for a couple days. This brought fresh water in some areas of Baffin and dropped the water temperature to 86.1 degrees. Redfish are making more of an appearance in shallower grass flats early in the day and speckled trout are being found along grass lines and grass beds in waist deep water. Top waters, light colored mirror lures and paddle tails have been producing solid redfish and trout. Remember, dark color for dark water and bright for clear water. Continue to stay safe and hydrated out on the water and as always tight lines!
July Fishing Report
It’s been a truly remarkable Month for fishing here in Baffin Bay. Weather patterns have remained consistent with hot temperatures, South East winds and barometric pressure rising later in the day. NOAA Tides and Currents station currently reading the tide at -0.07ft and the water temperature first thing in the morning lingers around 88 degrees and picks up to about 94 degrees by 3 o’clock in the afternoon. Redfish are schooling up along guts and feeding on bottom, you can also find them hiding in sand pockets or cruising a grass flat. The speckled trout bite has been phenomenal, first thing in the morning you can find them shallow and they will move into deeper water as the temperatures rise. Top water bite is aggressive early in the morning for trout and redfish. Paul Brown Softdines continue to produce solid fish, and even Fat Boy Corky’s! Mirrolure Little John or a purple and chartreuse jig for redfish up in the grass flats. Continue to stay safe out on the water and as always tight lines!
